RASC News Agency: The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially announced the release of four British citizens who were held captive by the Taliban. These individuals were detained on charges of violating Afghanistan’s legal statutes.
On Tuesday, October 10, the officials confirmed the release through the issuance of a formal notification. The proclamation expressed the Ministry’s sincere apologies to the Afghanistan government on behalf of the families of the British citizens for any infractions against the nation’s legal framework.
While the Ministry’s statement refrained from disclosing the identities of the liberated individuals, it urged British citizens to comply with both British anti-terrorism laws and the legislation of the countries they visit.
Despite the fact that, a report by Foreign Policy magazine had previously highlighted the Taliban’s attempts to implement a hostage policy by arresting several European and American citizens. The group aims to exert political pressure, secure prisoner exchanges, and access frozen funds in Afghanistan through the taking of foreign citizens as hostages.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban group, had previously announced that foreign citizens, including Americans, were being held in the group’s prisons. Although precise figures were not provided, Mujahid stated that these individuals were arrested in connection with various security issues.
In light of the volatile situation in Afghanistan under Taliban rule, the German Foreign Ministry recently urged its citizens to refrain from traveling to the country and advised those already there to leave as soon as possible.
