RASC News Agency: The regional hospital in Herat province, under the influence of the Taliban, has issued an urgent appeal for the return of female doctors to provide medical care to those injured in the recent earthquake that struck the area. The hospital is currently facing a state of emergency as a result of the earthquake, leading to a significant rise in the number of casualties.

It is worth mentioning that the Taliban had previously enforced a prohibition on female health workers and doctors from working at the Herat regional hospital. However, due to the severe shortage of medical staff at the hospital, local Taliban officials have now requested the return of all employees from the health department, including female doctors, to assist in treating the injured.

According to the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society, which operates under the control of the Taliban, the number of earthquake victims in Herat province has surpassed 2,000. Furthermore, the United Nations has reported that the earthquake, which occurred on Saturday, October 7, resulted in the death of 320 individuals and left hundreds more injured.

In addition, the residents of Herat province have expressed their dissatisfaction with the delayed response from the responsible institutions in the aftermath of the earthquake.

It is important to highlight that the Taliban’s appeal for the return of female doctors in Herat province comes at a time when women in Afghanistan are deprived of educational opportunities under the control of this group.
