RASC News Agency: According to sources in Khost province, the Taliban have detained a former soldier and employee of the National Security Directorate of the previous government in the Mandozai and Ismailkhel districts of the province. The individual, identified as Mohammad Asif, was reportedly apprehended nearly two weeks ago and subsequently relocated to an undisclosed location. Despite the elapsed time, no information regarding his status has been made available. Despite the efforts of family members and local elders, the reasons for his arrest and any potential avenues for his release remain unknown.
The Taliban group has not issued any statement on the matter. It is noteworthy that the Taliban group has been consistently arresting, torturing, and killing soldiers of the previous government since their takeover.
However, the frequency of such incidents has increased lately. The Taliban group has been widely criticized for committing extensive human rights violations, particularly against Afghanistani women and girls, previous military personnel, and ethnic and religious minorities. Reports and statements from international organizations have highlighted the deprivation of basic rights for women under the group’s control, the suppression of ethnic and religious minorities, and the mistreatment of former military personnel.
Furthermore, upon assuming governance, the Taliban faction declared a general amnesty. However, they failed to uphold their commitments towards former government officials, women, human rights advocates, journalists, and other religious minorities within the nation.
