RASC News Agency: UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that the legal situation of Afghanistani women and girls under the rule of the Taliban group is worrying.
The Secretary General of the United Nations has stated in a press conference on Wednesday, September 13, that the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan are at the center of all concerns, and this issue is on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly, which will begin next week.
Guterres added that the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan should be supported.
He stated that “the situation of the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan is at the center of all concerns and will be one of the issues that will be on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly”.
It should be mentioned that before this, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, emphasized on the support of the rights of women and girls in the world on the occasion of World Population Day.
This is despite the fact that after the domination of the Taliban group and the implementation of repressive policies against Afghanistani women and girls, it has brought global reactions that the fundamental rights of women, including education and work, have been violated.
It should be noted that in the past few days, a number of Afghanistani women activists went on a hunger strike in response to these restrictions and the recognition of gender apartheid in Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that the 78th session of the United Nations Assembly is scheduled to be held on September 19 in New York and its theme is to restore global trust and solidarity and intensify the actions of governments in implementing the 2030 agenda to achieve sustainable development goals.
