RASC: According to the report of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid in Afghanistan (OCHA), this organization provided aid to 18.8 million people in Afghanistan last year.

This organization said that 28.3 million people are in need of humanitarian aid by the end of 2023.

According to the annual report of the international community’s contributions to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund in 2022, donor countries and organizations have contributed 275 million dollars to this fund.

This institution added that after the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan and the Taliban group regained control, the humanitarian and protection situation of the people of this country has deteriorated further in 2022.

According to OCHA, the re-domination of the Taliban group over Afghanistan was the beginning of a new era, which was characterized by the elimination of half of the population, women and girls from public life.

According to this report, the number of people who need humanitarian assistance has increased from 24.4 million people at the beginning of 2022 to 28.3 million people by the end of the year, which has affected two-thirds of the population of Afghanistan.

The organization has stated that the main reason for humanitarian need in 2022 was increasingly climate change and economic crisis.

It is also written in the report: “Afghanistan is highly prone to natural hazards, the frequency and intensity of which will increase due to the effects of climate change, and as a result, it will intensify the existing humanitarian needs.”

Meanwhile, the World Food Organization has announced the removal of eight million people in different parts of the country from the humanitarian aid program due to lack of funds.

It should be noted that the reduction of humanitarian aid leads to an increase in poverty and the poor living conditions of the people of Afghanistan.
