RASC News Agency: Local authorities in Takhar province in the northeast of the country confirm that Taliban forces have identified and arrested six people from this province on charges of selling and smuggling drugs.
Abdul Mobeen Safi, the spokesman of the Taliban police command for Takhar province, says that the security forces of the Taliban group have carried out a military operation in this province yesterday (Saturday, September 9).
He added that as a result of this operation, six people have been arrested on the charges of drug smuggling and selling from Taleqan city and Yengi Qala district of Takhar province.
According to Mr. Safi, a quantity of narcotics was obtained from these people, which was seized by the Taliban and added to their files.
It should be noted that, at the same time as the rule of the Taliban group in Afghanistan, the cultivation, planting and smuggling of drugs have increased and the groups involved in the spread of this phenomenon have also become active.
While the Taliban claim that they are fighting against the phenomenon of drugs, but the reports of its cultivation and trafficking negate these claims of the Taliban.
It is said that cultivation and drug trafficking are considered to be the main financial source of the Taliban group in the last twenty years, and this group used to earn a huge amount of money every year.
Reports indicate that in some provinces of the country, this group has launched a campaign by pretending to destroy drug fields, but it is said that this is nothing more than a show.
