Murder and Self- Destruction of 2 Women in Takhar Province

RASC: The Taliban security command in Takhar province has reported the “self- destruction” and “murder” of two women in two separate incidents in this province.

In the newsletter of this command, it is stated that in the first incident, a 23-year-old married woman in Yengi Qala district ended her life by taking “mouse death” medicine.

According to the news, this woman’s name is Tahira and she committed self- destruction  (Thursday, May 25 in the village of “Kaftar Ali” in Yengiqala district.

The reason for this woman’s suicide has been stated as “family problems and violence” and the Taliban group’s police have announced the beginning of an investigation in connection with it.

In addition, in another newsletter of the security command of the Taliban group in Takhar, it stated that unknown armed men in Taleqan district, the capital of this province, killed a 23-year-old woman.

It stated in the news that this woman’s name was Jamila and she was a resident of “Aas Payin” area in the center of Taleqan. He was shot dead in her house around 4:00 this morning.

The cause and motive of this woman’s murder has not been determined.

The police of the Taliban group in Takhar have said that they have started a search and investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators of this woman’s murder.

Violence against women has increased since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.

Currently, there is no institution that women can turn to in order to obtain their rights.
