RASC News Agency: A number of Afghanistani refugees in Pakistan demanded that the United States of America government in a protest rally should process their cases.
This protest rally was held on Monday, September 4 by the applicants for American immigrant visas known as P1 and P2 in the city of Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
They say that they have been waiting for more than two years to receive special visas for the United States and they are still in trouble.
According to the protesters, three of these asylum seekers have committed suicide in the past two years, the last of which was a girl named “Maryam” who ended her life by throwing herself from the fifth floor of a building.
According to the “Associated Press” media report, more than 150,000 applicants for special visas to immigrate to America are in “undecided” situation in Pakistan.
The United States Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) recently reported that 840,000 US visa applicants are still in Afghanistan and are waiting to receive the results of their applications.
Previously, a group of Afghanistani immigrants in a protest meeting in Pakistan accused the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) of ignoring the problems of immigrants in this country and being negligent in solving them.
According to them, this negligence has led to many suicides among asylum seekers.
This group of asylum seekers with the slogan “Save us” and by publishing a statement sent their proposals to solve the problems of Afghanistani immigrants in Pakistan to the United Nations Refugee Agency.
