RASC News Agency: The Free Journalists Union of Afghanistan has announced that nine journalists have been released from the prison of the Taliban group in the past few days.
The Union of Journalists stated this issue on its Facebook page by publishing a newsletter and said that after the continuous lawsuits of the organization supporting journalists and the repeated efforts of the country’s media, nine of the detained journalists were released in the last three days.
In a newsletter of this union, it is stated that these journalists who were arrested in Kandahar, Nangarhar, Kunduz, Kunar, Paktia and Zabul provinces 23 days ago. Two of them were released two days after their arrest, five of them two days before and two others Parwiz from Kunar Province and Habibullah Sarab from Paktia Province were released on Saturday, September 2.
The Free Journalists’ Union of Afghanistan welcomed the release of all arrested journalists and asked the Taliban group to pursue the cases related to media work and journalists through the commission for investigation of complaints and investigation of media violations.
This is despite the fact that the Taliban group has always used violence against women and journalists since they took control of the country and continued to suppress them.
It should be noted that reports indicate that women, girls and the media are the main victims of the Taliban group’s violent behavior during the two years of this group’s rule.
It should be mentioned that according to the information, Murtaza Behbodhi, a French-Afghanistan journalist, and Aminullah Alami, owner of the license and responsible manager of the local radio “Mumtaz” in Faryab, are also in the custody of the Taliban group.
