RASC News Agency: Following the severe restrictions imposed by the Taliban group on the social life of citizens, especially women, Mohammad Sadiq Akif, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Amr Bil Maruf, said that if women’s faces are visible in public, it devalues them.

On Thursday, August 17, Mohammad Sadiq Akif said in an interview with Associated Press that if women show their faces to men in public, there is a possibility of sedition and sin.

He said that religious scholars agree on the issue that a woman’s face should be covered outside the house.

Akif added in this interview: “The visibility of women in big cities is very bad, and our scholars also agree that women’s faces should be hidden. It is not as his face is hurt. A woman has her own value and this value is reduced by the way men look at her. God respects women with hijab, and this is valuable.”

Previously, such statements by the officials of the Taliban group had faced domestic and foreign reactions and human rights defenders.

Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch recently asked the International Criminal Court to prosecute the leaders of the Taliban group for their violent and oppressive behavior against Afghanistani women and girls.

This official of the Taliban group did not answer a question regarding the change of policies of this group towards women in case of increasing international pressure.

Despite the fact that the Taliban group banned women from going to government offices, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Amr Bil Maruf told the Taliban group that women are not harassed by men in the offices run by this group.

It should be noted that the Taliban group has imposed severe restrictions on the social life of citizens, especially women, since their domination of the country. Under the rule of this group, women are deprived of the right to education, work and education, and their travel and clothing are also limited and designated.
