RASC News Agency: The Afghanistan Journalists Center says that the intelligence agents of the Taliban group arrested two journalists in Jalalabad city, the capital of Nangarhar province, on Thursday (August 10).

The center said in a statement that the detained journalists were named “Fakir Mohammad Faqirzai” and “Jan-Agha Saleh” and they work for “Radio Killid” media.

The center said that this is “the third arrest of journalists this week.”

Previously, on Sunday (August 6), the agents of the Taliban group arrested and imprisoned Seyed Wahdatullah Abdali, a reporter of the Bakhtar State News Agency, in Ghazni.

The Center of Afghanistan Journalists has said that at least four journalists, including Mortaza Behbodi, a foreign media reporter and a French-Afghanistani citizen, are in the prison of the Taliban group.

Expressing concern over the arrest of these journalists, this center has demanded their immediate release.

The officials of the Taliban group do not explain to the media about the arrest of journalists and the reasons for it.

This group arrests and investigates journalists mostly based on security charges and keeps them illegally detained and imprisoned for a long time.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Taliban group, on Tuesday (August 8), in a meeting with the journalists of Kandahar province, asked them not to publish “false news and propaganda“.

At the same time, Enam Samangani, another official of the Taliban group in this province, promised that the Taliban group will provide a “suitable and easy working environment” for journalists.

This is despite the fact that this group recently attacked Hamisha Bahar media in Nangarhar province and beat up some of its employees and then closed Hamisha Bahar and two other listening media.
