RASC News Agency: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has said in a statement that after two years of the effectiveness of the Taliban group, the need for humanitarian aid has increased greatly throughout Afghanistan.

This institution has said that the reduction of humanitarian aid for Afghanistan, along with the bad economic situation, climate change and the reduction of people’s access to basic services, has increased the number of those in need by 60%.

This committee added that it has received only 23% of the budget needed to provide humanitarian services this year.

The organization announced that it received 40% of funding last year, and with budget cuts this year, the committee is only able to provide humanitarian aid to 2 million or less in need across Afghanistan.

This announcement added that despite the major difficulties, this institution was able to prevent the spread of hunger in Afghanistan in the winter of the last two years.

Salma bin Eisa, director of the international Rescue Committee in Afghanistan, said: “As of August 15, 2021, Afghanistan is still struggling with rapid economic collapse, and ordinary citizens have paid the price. “People who used to have jobs and were self-sufficient now rely on humanitarian aid, and many families can no longer afford to feed themselves.”

He added: “After two years, the country’s economy is cut off from global systems and 28.8 million people need humanitarian aid, while nearly the entire population lives in poverty.”Nearly 80% of the needy are women and girls.”

Bin Eisa has asked the international community to continue providing humanitarian support to the people of Afghanistan, and humanitarian aid has saved many lives so far.

The director of the International Rescue Committee said: “This year, in the face of important challenges, the activists have succeeded; maintain and expand their humanitarian activities to provide life-saving assistance to more than 17 million Afghanistani citizens.”Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Afghanistani aid workers, whose commitment to the Afghanistani people has never wavered, organizations like International Rescue Committee have been able to provide emergency support to families in remote areas.”

Ben Eisa also said that the International Rescue Committee is worried about the future of providing humanitarian aid in Afghanistan due to the lack of funds.
