RASC: Following the arbitrary arrests of journalists on various charges by the Taliban group, the International Federation of Journalists has condemned the detention of these journalists.

This federation has published a newsletter on July 25, in response to the arbitrary arrest of Irfanullah Bidar, a local journalist in Nangarhar province by the Taliban group.

In the newsletter of the International Federation of Journalists, it is stated that with the Taliban group regaining control over Afghanistan, journalists have faced arbitrary arrests and violence by the fighters of this group.

According to this institution, the insecurity and worry in Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group has led to the increasing migration of Afghanistani journalists.

In addition to condemning the arbitrary arrest of Irfanullah Bidar, this federation demanded the release of all journalists who were arbitrarily arrested by this group, and also asked this group to end the intimidation of the Afghanistan media.

Irfanullah Bidar, the reporter of Safa Radio, was arrested by the agents of the Taliban intelligence department in Jalalabad on July 12, and was released two weeks later.

The Taliban group has not published any statement about the reason for the arrest and release of this journalist.

According to this newsletter, the Taliban group has created a “dangerous environment” for journalists. With the domination of the Taliban group over Afghanistan, this group has imposed many restrictions against media work.

Meanwhile, the Taliban group has been arresting, beating and torturing journalists and civil activists in different parts of the country. Human rights organizations have repeatedly emphasized in numerous reports that this group has tried to suppress civil and human rights activists with arbitrary arrests, violence and threats.
