RASC: On the eve of the Shias of the country holding the Muharram Ashura ceremony and imposing restrictions on this ceremony by the Taliban group, the National Resistance Front said that these actions of the Taliban group mean fueling “religious differences and discrimination”.

This front condemned the imposed restrictions and said that in the past there were no restrictions for holding this ceremony in Afghanistan.

The National Resistance Front considers Imam Hussain, the third Imam of the Shias, as a “model of fighting against oppression and inequality against the tyranny of the rulers” and added that Muslims honoring Ashura means a commitment to fight against the oppression and tyranny of “illegitimate religious” governments.

It should be mentioned that the Taliban group has imposed restrictions on Ashura ceremony organizers in different parts of the country, especially in the western part of Kabul.

The Taliban group has told the Shias to limit the Ashura ceremony to a few areas and Takia Khanas and to avoid overcrowding on these days.

Meanwhile, the Taliban group in some provinces of the country has prohibited some citizens from installing Muharram flags and in some cases; they have used violence against them.

The Taliban group has said that the purpose of imposing these restrictions is to ensure the safety of the organizers of this ceremony, but the Shia Scholars Council of Afghanistan has demanded the cancellation of these restrictions and told the organizers to celebrate this day as before.

Ashura ceremony is one of the religious ceremonies of Shias, which is celebrated every year with the arrival of Muharram in mainly Shias places.
