RASC News Agency: According to reports, the Taliban have detained, imprisoned, and subjected to torture more than 10 former military officials of the previous Afghanistan government over the past week. The majority of these individuals were arrested on various charges, including alleged affiliation with the National Resistance Front (NRF), opposition to the Taliban, and failure to comply with the group’s orders. Some of those arrested had recently crossed the border from Iran and Pakistan and were detained immediately upon entering Afghanistan, subsequently being transferred to Taliban-run prisons.

In the most recent incident, local sources in Daikundi province revealed that Taliban intelligence forces have apprehended two former military personnel, who are brothers. According to these sources, the two individuals, identified as Mohammad Ali Tofan and Mohammad Amin, were detained on Wednesday, January 29, in the Kata Sang village of the Shahristan district. A source disclosed that Mohammad Ali previously served as a director within the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Daikundi under the former Afghanistan government, while Mohammad Amin served as a soldier in Ghazni province. The two were arrested while working alongside local residents to reconstruct a road connecting Shahristan and Miramor districts.

As of now, their whereabouts remain unknown, and it is unclear where the Taliban have taken them. The Taliban had previously raided the homes of these former military officers, coercing them to surrender weapons under threat of severe punishment. Local Taliban authorities in Daikundi have not yet commented on the arrests. Since reclaiming control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have been repeatedly accused of extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, and the widespread torture of former government officials and military personnel.
