RASC: According to a new report from the United Nations Office in Afghanistan (UNAMA), the number of prisoners in this group’s prisons has increased, and they do not release women and girls who have completed their imprisonment because they do not have Mahram.

According to the report of this organization, the number of prisoners in the hands of the Taliban reached 15,000 at the end of June, and this figure is more than the 10,000 that the Taliban had set as the average number of prisoners, and it is a significant figure.

The United Nations representative office in Afghanistan has said that not releasing people whose prison terms have been completed or the decision to release them has become a serious challenge for the prisons of this group.

According to the report of this organization, the increase in the number of prisoners in the prisons of this group has led to the lack of assurance regarding the proper treatment of the prisoners, the access of the prisoners to health and food facilities, and it has also made it difficult to manage and discipline the prisoners.

UNAMA also said in its report that this organization called the office of the Taliban Prisons Regulatory Affairs Office and demanded an investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse in Faryab, Jawzjan and Samangan prisons.

Since the Taliban took control of the country, they have arrested women activists, journalists, university professors, soldiers and employees of the previous government.

This is despite the fact that some time ago, a local media investigated the situation of women in the prisons of the Taliban group and said that the women in the prisons of this group are in the worst condition.
