RASC News Agency: In response to the recent devastating earthquakes in Herat province, it has been confirmed that the Deputy Special Envoy of the United Nations for Afghanistan Affairs has traveled to Herat province to assess the situation and provide aid to the affected individuals.
According to reliable sources, the UN official held a meeting with the governor of the Taliban group in Herat province during his visit.
The delegation, comprised of the Deputy Special Envoy of the United Nations for Afghanistan, the deputy of the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Taliban group, the head of the Ministry of Economy, and other high-ranking officials, engaged in discussions with the governor of Herat regarding the dire consequences of the earthquake.
During the meeting, Sheikh Noor Ahmed Islam Jar, the governor of the Taliban group in Herat province, emphasized the severe impact of the earthquake on the citizens of Herat and expressed deep concern over the worsening situation.
The governor of Herat appealed for humanitarian assistance from international organizations to aid the earthquake victims and urged the global community to fulfill its responsibility towards the affected population.
It is noteworthy that Herat province has experienced several significant and minor earthquakes since last week, as reported by local authorities.
Furthermore, the Taliban official underscored the imperative need for attention and assistance from international institutions to aid the victims, noting the initial delay in the establishment of a rescue team during the early days of the earthquake.
