RASC: Some senior officials of the previous government have warned that if no action is taken to change the current situation in Afghanistan, the country will return to the attacks before September 11.
They say that it is America’s moral duty to support the Afghanistani people who intend to restore the legitimate and legal government in Afghanistan.
A number of ministers, senior military officials, parliamentarians of the former government and Afghanistani political and civil figures on Thursday, July 6, in a letter addressed to the US Congress, said that Joe Biden’s recent statements regarding the cooperation of the Taliban group with the US in the fight against al-Qaeda is “irresponsible and baseless” and they condemned it.
In addition to calling Biden’s statements “incorrect”, the authors of this letter demanded strict measures by the US, including the imposition of “targeted” sanctions on the Taliban group.
They have requested the US Congress to approve a bill proposed by Jim Rish, the senator of the state of Idaho, regarding the sanctioning of the Taliban group.
The draft of this bill was presented in the Senate at the end of May this year.
In this letter, it is mentioned that the presence of the Al-Qaeda leader a few hundred meters from the former US embassy in Kabul and his killing by an American drone is a clear reason for the Taliban group to shelter the Al-Qaeda leader and shows the unbreakable relationship between the two groups.
The names of the people who wrote this letter include Masoud Andrabi, Minister of Interior, Ahmed Zia Siraj, Chief of National Security, Shah Mahmoud Miakhil, Deputy Minister of Defense, Mohammad Sharif Yaftali, Chief of Staff of the Army, and General Sami Sadat, Commander of the Armed Forces. It has been observed that it is specific to the previous government.
This letter was also signed by a number of former members of parliament, including Shukria Barekzai and Fouzia Kofi.
They say that the people of Afghanistan do not accept the Taliban group and they are trying to restore freedom to this country.
According to the authors of this letter, it is America’s moral duty to support Afghanistani people who want to restore a legitimate and legal government in Afghanistan so that this country can find its place in the international community again.
Referring to the establishment of religious schools instead of public schools in Afghanistan, the authors of this letter said that the radicalization of Afghanistani youth by the Taliban group will be a serious threat to the region, American interests, and international stability.
