RASC: According to local media officials in Logar province, the Taliban have warned them not to broadcast women’s voices in the media and they will be punished if they broadcast women’s voices in the media.

They say that the Department of Information and Culture of the Taliban called them on Sunday, June 25, and communicated this order to them in a face-to-face meeting.

It has been said that this meeting was held in Logar with the presence of Rafiullah Samim, the head of information and culture, Hemat Mohajer, the spokesman of the Intelligence Department, and Akramullah, the spokesman of the Department of Amr Bil Maruf of the Taliban group.

A number of managers of private media and reporters of Logar media say that these people of the Taliban group have asked them not to share women’s voices in the media.

According to the sources, when media officials and journalists said that women’s voices are broadcast in Kabul, why should they not be broadcast in Logar, these Taliban group argued that “the atmosphere of Logar is different from Kabul.”

Sources have added that the members of the Taliban group took a written commitment from the media officials in this meeting that they would be severely punished if they broadcast women’s voices.

The prominent people of the Taliban group and media supporting institutions in Kabul have not officially said anything about this issue yet.

It should be mentioned that before this, the Taliban group in some provinces called playing music “illegal” and banned it.

The leaders of the Taliban group, in response to the criticisms regarding the restrictions on the activities of the media, have said that this group supports the media within the framework of Sharia, and if they follow the orders of this group, they can continue their activities.

It should be noted that after the Taliban took control of the country, restrictions on the media increased and some journalists were arrested or tortured for various reasons.
