RASC News Agency: In response to Amidst the escalating human tragedy and mounting financial burden caused by the devastating earthquake in Herat province, the Australian government has exemplified its unwavering commitment to providing relief by pledging a substantial sum of one million dollars. Reported by The New Daily on Wednesday, October 11, this significant humanitarian assistance will be channeled through the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, ensuring that it remains unhindered by the influence of the Taliban group.

In a heartfelt statement, Penny Wong, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia, expressed profound sorrow and extended her sincere condolences to the lives lost and the extensive economic devastation caused by the earthquake in Afghanistan. Wong underlined that Australia’s substantial assistance will be directed through independent organizations that cater to the fundamental needs of the affected population, namely shelter, food, and medicine.

Wong further shed light on the detrimental impact of the Taliban’s recent domination on the availability of international aid, which has gravely affected Afghanistan’s infrastructure, subsequently leaving the nation in a weakened state. Resolutely, she emphasized Australia’s steadfast dedication and support to the resilient people of Afghanistan, recognizing the crucial role of international assistance in their ongoing struggle.

Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the Australian government has already allocated a notable sum of $50 million in addressing the economic crisis currently gripping Afghanistan. Concurrently, the European Union has also come forward to offer solace with a humanitarian aid package amounting to 3.5 million euros. This assistance is intended to alleviate the suffering of the earthquake’s victims in Herat province, who have endured considerable loss of life and widespread financial damages.

Of significant concern is the complete annihilation of several villages in the wake of this catastrophic earthquake, as reported. The road to recovery for the affected residents looms ahead, with immense challenges waiting to be surmounted. Nevertheless, the international community, through the collective efforts of Australia and the European Union, stands resolute in their commitment to stand alongside the people of Herat province, offering a beacon of hope in their darkest hour.
