RASC: Sources among Afghanistani immigrants in Pakistan have reported the suicide of a young refugee from Badakhshan province in Islamabad.

Sources have mentioned this young man by name of Sahim and said that he ended his life on Thursday evening, June 22, in “Gul Barg Green” area of Islamabad by committing suicide from the sixth floor of a building.

A source says that Sahim was a student of Kabul Polytechnic University and had gone to Pakistan since months, where he was waiting for his immigration case to be processed. Another source says that Sahim had an American priority 2 (P2) case.

Sources say that this young man committed suicide due to economic problems and depression caused by the delay in his immigration case.

The sources added that Sahim’s body was taken from Islamabad to Afghanistan by his family on Friday, June 23.

After the Taliban took control of the country, thousands of citizens of this country went to Pakistan, where they are waiting to receive asylum and resettlement in European and American countries.

It should be noted that most of these people are employees of the previous government, American and Western institutions that have been active in Afghanistan for the past 20 years.

These asylum seekers have complained about the slowness of the processing of their immigration cases and say that they are facing economic problems and the risk of deportation from Pakistan.

It should be mentioned that recently, the government of Pakistan has taken unprecedented measures to arrest Afghanistani refugees under various pretexts, and in some cases, it has even imprisoned them or sent them back to Afghanistan.
