RASC: Following the reactions regarding the interaction with the Taliban group, Nasir Ahmad Faiq, the head of Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, stated in the meeting of the Security Council of this organization that the only interaction and dialogue with the Taliban was fruitless and it is time for the international community to work with political forces. Political forces and Democratic way of interactions will get satisfactory result.
The meeting of the Security Council was held yesterday, Wednesday, June 21, regarding Afghanistan.
Nasir Ahmad Faiq stated in this meeting that during the last two years, the international community has interacted and talked with the Taliban in the hope of positive change. On the other hand, this group not only did not accept the demands, but they are trying to hide their actions under the title of a distorted version of religion and Culture, justify and cover up.
Faiq added that the Taliban group has resorted to the policy of blackmail and extortion with the United Nations and non-governmental organizations on the international stage.
He said that the Taliban at the national level have returned to the oppressive policies of the 1990s and want to strengthen their power and authority through repression and oppression.
Faiq also stated : “Time and experience have proven that only dialogue and interaction, in the first step, with the Taliban is fruitless. Therefore, now is the time for the international community to start an organized engagement with democratic political forces to help find a clear solution to the crisis.”
He emphasized that democratic political forces should be provided with the necessary ground and opportunity.
He added that after this, in international efforts, the beginning of a political process to resolve political issues through national dialogue should be one of the priorities.
Faiq added that the Afghanistan crisis is essentially political in nature and needs a political solution.
He says, until now, the international community had focused most of its attention on human rights issues and the humanitarian situation.
Roza Otenbayeva, the special representative of the UN Secretary-General and the head of the UNAMA mission in Afghanistan, also spoke at the Security Council meeting yesterday and said that until the restrictions imposed by this group on women and girls are not lifted, the recognition of this group is not possible.
Otenbayeva added that, the Taliban group wants their group to be recognized, and on the other hand, by imposing restrictions on women and girls, they are acting against their wishes and the values included in the UN Charter.
He says that he expressed this issue in various meetings with Taliban officials and demanded the cancellation of this group’s restrictions against women and girls.
According to him, judgement and decrees of the Taliban are unpopular among the people of Afghanistan and the continuation of this situation will cause more damage to the domestic and international credibility of the Taliban.
During his speech, the head of UNAMA also described the Taliban group as “dominant and isolated” and emphasized that the male structure of this group originated from the Pashtun people.
