RASC: Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of the Taliban group, said that the media law is going to be ratified soon.

He adds that the details of this law will become public after its approval.

The spokesperson of the Taliban group says, “The leader of the Taliban group emphasized the support of the media in a meeting with the heads of information and culture of the provinces and announced the ratification of the country’s media law in the near future.”

At the same time, the officials of the Afghanistan Free Media Support Organization (NAI) say they hope that with the ratification of the media law, more facilities will be provided to the media and journalists.

Zarif Karimi, the head of NAI, says that there may be fundamental changes in the new media law.

He adds: “There may be fundamental changes in the media law, on the structure of the media, the media policy, a number of prohibited items, the publication and content structure, and the media publication policy.”

It should be mentioned that until now the law of public media of the republic period is applied in the country’s media and this Taliban group had already said that until the new law is ratified, the media can follow these laws. However, the Taliban group acted against the media law, imprisoned, and tortured dozens of journalists, and right now, a number of journalists are in Taliban prisons.
