New York Post: Biden Administration’s Negligence in Afghanistani Migrant Resettlement Endangers U.S. Security

RASC News Agency: In a scathing editorial, the “New York Post” has criticized the Biden administration for its “negligent” handling of immigration cases concerning Afghanistani citizens, warning that this lax approach is leading the United States into a perilous situation. The newspaper points to the recent arrest of Nasir Ahmad Toheedi by the FBI, an individual allegedly plotting an Election Day attack in the U.S. Toheedi had entered the country under what was described as “rigorous vetting” overseen by the Biden-Harris administration during the fall of Kabul. However, the article underscores that the process for admitting Afghanistani migrants was not treated with the same urgency or seriousness as other national security threats, such as those posed by Iran.

The “New York Post” further notes that it is still unclear whether Toheedi was a “sleeper terrorist” at the time of his visa issuance or if he became radicalized after his arrival in the U.S. The editorial asserts that either possibility is “equally catastrophic.” Regardless, it emphasizes that numerous other Afghanistani citizens who have been admitted to the U.S. under the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program could also pose potential “terrorist threats.”

“The fact that Toheedi emerged from a program that was supposed to be secure and reliable highlights how recklessly Biden and Harris have jeopardized U.S. national security through their immigration policies,” the editorial continues. According to the article, the U.S. has thus far resettled approximately 77,000 Afghanistani citizens through the SIV program.

Moreover, the “New York Post” argues that Biden’s mismanagement of immigration and the fallout from the Afghanistan war have contributed to what it calls a “nightmare scenario” in the lead-up to the November 5 elections in the United States.
