RASC News Agency: Local officials of the Taliban group in Balkh province have confirmed that a flood in the Dahan-e-Ghori district has led to the destruction of over a hundred residential houses. Hedayatullah Hamdard, the Head of Emergencies for the Taliban group in Balkh province, shared with the media on, November 23, that this incident occurred last night in the villages of Cheshm-e-Jangan, Dahan-e-Bala, and Zer Qalai in the Dahan-e-Ghori district of Baghlan. Additionally, officials from the Taliban in this province revealed that numerous residential homes in these villages have faced significant financial damages due to the flood.
Nevertheless, precise information regarding human casualties resulting from this flood in Balkh province has not been provided. However, officials from the Taliban in this province have mentioned that a rescue team has already arrived at the site and is working to save lives. This situation transpires as the Meteorological Service, managed by the Taliban group, had previously warned of potential snowfall in highlands and heavy rains, potentially causing sudden floods in 18 provinces of Afghanistan. It is crucial to note that this year, Afghanistan has experienced a natural disaster, in addition to other crises, due to an earthquake in the province of Herat, resulting in significant financial and human losses for the residents.
It is also important to highlight that following the natural disaster in Herat province, several international countries have declared their commitment to provide global aid to the affected population. In the most recent case, a shipment of relief aid from the European Union has arrived in Kabul for the victims of the earthquake in Herat. It is noteworthy that previous occurrences of floods in various provinces of the country, caused by heavy rains, have led to significant human and financial losses for the Afghanistani citizens.
