RASC News Agency: Taliban security authorities in eastern Nangarhar province have confirmed that a young man fatally shot his father following a verbal altercation in the Ghani Khel district. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, June 8, in the “Joy 26” area of the district. According to Taliban police spokesperson Sayed Tayyib Hamad, the suspect identified as Razi Khan opened fire on his father, Fareed Gul Shinwari, after a heated argument escalated over the use of a vehicle. Reports indicate that Razi Khan had wanted to use his father’s car for a recreational outing, but was met with resistance, which led to a confrontation that turned violent.

Hamad stated that the suspect used a handgun to carry out the shooting and immediately fled the scene after committing the crime. Security forces are reportedly searching for him. The incident has raised alarm over the growing number of domestic disputes turning deadly in various parts of the country. Local residents and social observers have expressed concern about the apparent rise in family-related violence, pointing to a lack of mental health support and inadequate conflict resolution mechanisms under current conditions in Afghanistan.

Community members emphasize that improved access to counseling services and greater awareness around managing family tensions could help prevent such tragedies from recurring.
