RASC News Agency: The recent proclamation from the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of the Taliban discloses the forceful deportation of 809 Afghanistani refugees, previously residing in the Islamic Republic of Iran, who were repatriated to Afghanistan through the Islam Qala border in Herat. The press office of the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs disseminated this information on December 19th via a statement on a prominent social media platform. Emphasizing that all deported migrants were returned within a singular day.
As per the Taliban ministry, the Islam Qala border command reported that among the aforementioned individuals, 530 were identified as grappling with severe economic challenges. These individuals have been referred to the International Organization for Migration, where they received aid in the form of both food and non-food items. Additionally, ten thousand Kabuli rupees, the prevailing currency of Afghanistan, were allocated to nine families, and 23 individuals were provided with complimentary SIM cards by the border’s responsible committees. Furthermore, medical services were extended to 203 others.
The ongoing process of deporting Afghanistani immigrants without residency documentation from Iran and Pakistan is underscored in the available information. The financial and administrative deputy of the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation Affairs has urgently implored the international community to intervene against the coerced deportation of migrants. They advocate for a responsible and constructive engagement from the global community to aid the repatriated migrants.
Contrary reports from diverse provinces in Afghanistan suggest that the Taliban group is extracting funds from individuals, ostensibly under the guise of assisting the deported emigrants from Iran and Pakistan. In light of International Migrants Day, senior officials of the Taliban group have issued appeals to Iran and Pakistan, urging them to cease the process of forced deportation of migrants.
