Afghanistan Freedom Front: Four Taliban Fighters Killed in Balkh and Takhar

RASC News Agency: The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), an armed resistance movement opposing the Taliban regime, has claimed responsibility for the killing of four Taliban fighters in coordinated operations conducted in the northern provinces of Balkh and Takhar. In an official statement, the group reported that on the night of Wednesday, April 9, its forces launched a targeted assault on a Taliban checkpoint near Rawza-e-Sharif in the Fourth Security District of Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province. The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of two Taliban militants and injuries to three others.

Later that same day, the AFF said its fighters carried out another offensive on a Taliban security post located in the Golai Bagh area of Taloqan, the capital of Takhar province. According to the statement, two additional Taliban fighters were killed and two others wounded in the attack. Separately, local sources confirmed the occurrence of an explosion in Takhar on Wednesday evening, though further details about the nature and cause of the blast have yet to emerge. These incidents come amid a noticeable uptick in armed resistance against Taliban forces, as anti-Taliban factions such as the AFF continue to expand their operations across Afghanistan. Despite Taliban assertions of nationwide security and stability, the frequency of such attacks points to ongoing unrest and the persistence of active insurgency.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front has emerged as one of the key resistance groups challenging Taliban rule, regularly targeting Taliban military infrastructure and personnel. This recent escalation highlights the fragility of the Taliban’s grip on power and reflects the growing momentum among opposition forces seeking to dismantle their authoritarian regime.
