Explosion in Taliban Base in Panjshir Leaves 30 Dead and Dozens Injured

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Panjshir have reported a powerful explosion on Friday evening at a Taliban base in the Darah district. The Taliban’s police command in Panjshir stated that six individuals were injured in the incident. Medical sources confirmed that several Taliban casualties were transported to medical facilities. Abedullah Farooqi, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s police in Panjshir province, claimed that a gas balloon explosion in a guesthouse had injured six people. He further stated that the injured were quickly transferred to healthcare centers, and their condition is not critical. Farooqi also posted on X, asserting that the explosion caused no financial damage.

According to sources, the explosion occurred in the village of Bek Mohammad, at the residence of an individual named Malem Bashir, now used as a Taliban base. The sources revealed that around 100 Taliban fighters were stationed at the base at the time of the explosion. A medical source confirmed that at least 30 bodies and dozens of injured fighters were transferred from the site to the clinic in Darah district and the central hospital of Panjshir.

Some sources speculated that the explosion might have been caused by a drone strike. Over the past three years, the Taliban have consistently avoided taking responsibility for such incidents. It is noteworthy that a year ago, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in a restaurant in Dehmazang, Kabul, killing more than 15 people. Despite having complete information and possessing footage of the attack, the Taliban claimed the explosion was caused by a gas balloon rather than a suicide bombing. This group is known for its adeptness in concealing such incidents, and it is unlikely that they will acknowledge this event either.
