RASC News Agency: The Afghanistan Liberation Front has denounced the Taliban as a criminal and regressive group, holding them responsible for the execution of Abdul Ali Mazari, the former leader of Hizb-e-Wahdat, labeling his killing a war crime. In a statement released on Wednesday, March 12, the Front asserted that Mazari’s execution while in Taliban captivity constitutes a grave violation of international law and warrants prosecution in international courts. Just Commemorating the 30th anniversary of Mazari’s death, the statement underscored his profound influence on Afghanistan’s political and military landscape, describing him as a pivotal figure in the country’s struggle for justice and peace.
“Mazari’s name remains permanently tied to the rightful pursuit of social justice an enduring, irreplaceable aspiration of the Afghanistani people,” the declaration read. The Afghanistan Liberation Front further emphasized Mazari’s vision for an inclusive and just political order, stating: “Establishing justice within the political power structure, legitimizing women’s role in society, ensuring equal access to rights and responsibilities through a federal system, and securing democratic legitimacy these were the fundamental principles Mazari championed, which have only grown in significance over time.”
The statement also condemned the Taliban’s decades-long campaign of violence, accusing the group of orchestrating the assassination of thousands of Afghanistani citizens, including political leaders, social activists, and intellectuals, in a calculated effort to eliminate the foundations of peaceful coexistence. The Liberation Front further denounced the Taliban’s persistent pattern of repression, stating that the group continues to perpetrate crimes and impose draconian restrictions on Afghanistani society, further deepening the suffering of its people.
Abdul Ali Mazari was captured by the Taliban on March 10, 1995, in Chahar Asyab, Kabul, and was executed on March 12 of the same year.
