RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently articulated its intention for Turkmenistan to amplify its trade volume with Afghanistan under the group’s influence to the tune of one billion dollars. As per the pronouncement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Muradov, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, is intent on formulating a collaborative strategy for the expansion of trade between the two entities, aiming for an elevation in the magnitude of commercial transactions.
This development transpires as Mr. Muradov, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, undertook an unannounced visit to the province of Herat on Saturday, December 16, and proceeded to the port of Torghundi in the province’s north to assess the advancements in the construction of the railway linking Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Reports indicate that the Taliban’s ministers of foreign affairs, trade, industry, as well as mines and petroleum, partook in deliberations with the Turkmen delegation concerning the TAPI project, emphasizing the imperative of executing this initiative.
It is salient to note that, although Turkmenistan, akin to nations globally, has refrained from official recognition of the Taliban, it sustains affirmative relations with this group in the domains of trade and economics. It is worth highlighting that the Taliban broaches this subject at a juncture where, subsequent to the group’s assumption of control in the country, numerous regional and global entities have curtailed their affiliations with Afghanistan across diverse sectors, resulting in a conspicuous absence of diplomatic representation in Afghanistan under the sway of this group.
According to reports, the Taliban’s historical track record during their preceding governance and apprehensions surrounding the presence of terrorists in Afghanistan have prompted certain nations to caution their citizens against traveling to Afghanistan. Of particular note, a few weeks antecedent, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Australia issued an advisory to its citizens, beseeching them to abstain from voyaging to Afghanistan under Taliban dominion due to a surge in criminal activities, notably mysterious homicides and arbitrary detentions.
