Taliban Officials in Ghor Plunder Medical Center Resources

RASC News Agency: Reliable sources have informed RASC News Agency that the Taliban in Lal wa Sarjangal district of Ghor province have shut down a long-standing medical center, “LibCo,” which had been operational in the region for over 30 years. This facility, originally established by international organizations, provided vital medical services to the population until its abrupt suspension a few months ago. The sources reported that the medical center not only catered to the healthcare needs of Ghor but also extended its services to Daikundi province and parts of Bamyan. Its primary mission was to deliver free medical treatment to the residents of these underserved areas.

According to insiders, the center’s closure was orchestrated following official instructions from Kabul. Dr. Arif Hemat, a figure reportedly hailing from Chak district in Maidan Wardak province, was tasked with overseeing the process. Initially, he ordered the downsizing of the center’s operations, eventually issuing directives for its complete relocation to Maidan Wardak. When a delegation from Kabul arrived in Lal wa Sarjangal to facilitate the transfer of the center’s resources, they were met with widespread opposition from local residents and some Taliban officials in Ghor. The local population strongly objected to the relocation, successfully preventing the transport of equipment to Maidan Wardak.

However, sources confirmed that the center’s resources, including vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and essential medical equipment, were ultimately seized and distributed among local Taliban officials in Ghor. The center was officially decommissioned, and its assets were looted under the guise of administrative reallocation. The closure of this crucial healthcare facility has left thousands of residents in Ghor and neighboring provinces without access to essential medical services. The incident underscores the systemic mismanagement and exploitation of resources under Taliban rule, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
