Forty Afghanistani Families Deported from Iran and Pakistan

RASC News Agency: The Taliban-run Bakhtar News Agency reported that on Saturday, October 26, a total of 44 Afghanistani migrant families were either forcibly or voluntarily deported from Iran and Pakistan. These families re-entered Afghanistan through the border crossings in the provinces of Nangarhar, Kandahar, Nimroz, and Herat. According to the report, 15 families returned via the Torkham border crossing, while 4 others crossed through Spin Boldak. Additionally, 16 families entered through the Pul-e-Abrisham border, and 9 families returned via Islam Qala.

Some deported Afghanistani migrants have reported that Iranian and Pakistani authorities subjected them to physical violence, verbal abuse, and other forms of mistreatment during their deportation. Many Afghanistani returnees from Iran stated they were apprehended by local police at their workplaces and expelled from the country, leaving their wives and children stranded in Iran without support or certainty.

Since the Taliban’s return to power, more than ten million Afghanistanis have been forced to flee their homeland to escape ethnic, linguistic, religious, and political persecution, as well as poverty, fear, unemployment, and deprivation. Reports indicate that Afghanistani migrants often face severe mistreatment from local authorities and populations in Iran and Pakistan. Despite expressing dissatisfaction with Afghanistani migrants, these host countries, especially Iran, maintain alliances with the very forces that caused this migration crisis.
