U.S. Official: If We Don’t Fight Terrorism in Kandahar, It Will Reach the United States

RASC News Agency: The Washington Post has reported that Michael Waltz, the National Security Advisor under the Trump administration, has placed heightened emphasis on Afghanistan, underscoring its critical role in countering terrorism. Waltz, a vocal critic of the Taliban, warns in his book, If We Don’t Fight Terrorism in Kandahar, It Will Come to Kansas City, that failing to confront terrorist threats in Afghanistan could have devastating consequences for the United States. The senior U.S. official has stressed the importance of gathering accurate intelligence from Afghanistan and providing support to its citizens to prevent future security risks to America.

According to The Washington Post, Afghanistan holds exceptional strategic significance for Waltz. While he opposes the redeployment of U.S. troops to the region, he remains resolute in his stance that a repeat of the September 11, 2001, attacks must be avoided at all costs. Waltz has advocated for bolstering intelligence efforts in Afghanistan, arguing that U.S. security and interests hinge on the availability of reliable and actionable information. He has also criticized the withdrawal of American forces, particularly the abandonment of Bagram Air Base, which he considers a critical error in strategy.

In his book, Waltz asserts, “If we don’t fight terrorism in Kandahar, it will inevitably find its way to Kansas City.” He further contends that the Taliban continue to provide refuge to various terrorist organizations, presenting a profound danger to the United States and the region at large. A seasoned veteran of the Afghanistan war, Waltz has consistently been a staunch opponent of the Taliban’s policies and their harboring of extremist groups. Additionally, Afghanistan’s National Resistance Front (NRF) has claimed to have established connections with Waltz and several members of the Trump administration, seeking their support in the fight against the Taliban’s oppressive rule.
