RASC News Agency: The international “Interaction” organization warns of the possibility of more food shortages in Afghanistan.
In its latest report, this institution wrote that it is expected that with the reduction of food aid of the World Food Program (WFP) this year, the shortage and lack of access to food in Afghanistan will increase.
“Interaction” has said that following the re-domination of the Taliban group and three consecutive years of drought, 20 million people in Afghanistan are currently facing food shortages, of which about 6 million people, including 3.1 million children, are in Afghanistan. They are one-step away from famine.
Interaction and its members asked the donors of humanitarian aid in the world to remain committed to the continuation of humanitarian aid in Afghanistan and to ensure that the aid reaches the needy.
At the same time, a number of people say that they were denied receiving aid one or more times this year, which worries them.
The increase in poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan has forced many families to send their children to the streets for hard work.
Dina, a mother of three children, whose husband died of cancer two years ago, says that under the rule of the Taliban group, she is unemployed and houseless like hundreds of other women and girls.
Dina said that she lives in a rented house whose roof might collapse at any moment; but she cannot afford to pay the rent of this house regularly.
Dina says that this year she received 250 US dollars from an international aid agency, which has not been repeated.
She added: “Some nights I sit down crying, I go to my children, I see them innocent, my liver bleeds. I cannot reach the way they want me to reach for them, there are too many economic problems, I cannot meet their demands, and they helped me once, that is enough. I was very happy; I said that maybe this help will continue, unfortunately, it was helped once.”
Seyyed Yaqut Shah, another resident of Kabul who works as a cobbler in a corner of this city, says that he is the sole breadwinner of his family.
He said that in addition to finding the expenses of his family, he has to pay for the treatment of one of his children who has a pollen problem.
He said: “The aid was more than good. A package of flour and oil. The work of the people was good. At the same time, God is present and witnesses that many help is missing and there is no business. Some days I can earn 50 rupees in cobbler, some days I go empty-handed to my children’s house, they ask for bread.
According to Interaction report, after the Taliban regained control in Afghanistan, the economic crisis has increased more than ever and the unemployment rate has reached 13.3%.
Based on the statistics provided by this organization, the price of basic foodstuffs has increased by 35% in the last two years.
Interaction organization has expressed concern that if sufficient funds are not received to support 22.3 million Afghanistani citizens by December 2023, there will be serious consequences for the vulnerable people of Afghanistan.
