RASC News Agency: Al Jazeera has underscored the urgent need for sustained global attention and support for Afghanistan, cautioning that international neglect of the country could have grave consequences for both its people and the region at large. In its analysis, the outlet delved into Afghanistan’s multifaceted crises, highlighting that the nation remains on the brink of disaster. Despite these challenges, global focus has shifted elsewhere, consumed by crises in Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine. This diminishing attention has left Afghanistan perilously close to being forgotten by the international community.
Al Jazeera warned that neglecting Afghanistan could unleash a humanitarian catastrophe, marked by rising mortality due to severe poverty, harsh winters, and escalating insecurity. The report also revealed that in 2024, an estimated 23.7 million Afghanistanis required humanitarian aid, placing the country among the top four globally for food insecurity. The analysis called for immediate global intervention, stressing that Afghanistan’s plight must be treated as an urgent priority. Failure to do so could fuel further instability across the region. Sustainable humanitarian aid and long-term developmental investments, it argued, are the only viable paths to help Afghanistan emerge from its prolonged crisis.
The report echoed warnings from other international organizations, which have consistently highlighted the dire consequences of ignoring Afghanistan’s needs. These groups have pointed to pervasive poverty and unemployment as primary drivers of the country’s deteriorating living conditions, cautioning that without decisive action, Afghanistan’s citizens will face mounting, insurmountable challenges.
