RASC News Agency: Musawer Bahaduri, the head of the Afghanistan Migration Committee (Ariana) in Tajikistan, has raised deep concerns over the ongoing deportations of Afghanistani refugees from the country. He called on Tajik authorities to safeguard the rights of refugees and uphold their international commitments. In a recent statement, Bahaduri expressed his condolences to Afghanistani families impacted by these deportations and reiterated his committee’s dedication to protecting and supporting refugees.

According to The Times of Central Asia, Bahaduri underscored that the deportation campaign, now exceeding a week in duration, has sparked widespread fear and uncertainty among the refugee population. Operating for over 27 years in Tajikistan, the Afghanistani Migration Committee has played a pivotal role as a mediator between Afghanistani refugees and local authorities. The committee, functioning under the jurisdiction of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Justice, addresses refugee grievances and facilitates constructive dialogue with government entities. Bahaduri urged Tajikistan to honor its international obligations, emphasizing that many Afghanistani refugees sought asylum in the country to escape Taliban persecution.

In his statement, Bahaduri advocated for diplomatic resolutions to protect the rights and welfare of vulnerable Afghanistani refugees while fostering strong bilateral ties between the peoples of Afghanistan and Tajikistan. He highlighted the urgent need for collaborative efforts to uphold human rights and ensure the security of displaced individuals. Notably, Tajikistan has long served as a haven for tens of thousands of Afghanistani nationals, many of whom have resided in the country for years. The recent deportations have cast a shadow over the lives of these refugees, intensifying calls for immediate action to safeguard their rights and safety.
