RASC News Agency: Local sources in Faryab province report a harrowing incident in which the Taliban burned a man alive, accusing him of being affiliated with the National Resistance Front (NRF). According to eyewitness accounts, the Taliban launched an attack on Saturday, December 7, targeting Abdullah, a resident of Qarai a region the Taliban have renamed Khyber District on allegations of collaboration with the NRF led by Ahmad Massoud. During the assault, Abdullah was killed, and his body, along with his house, was set ablaze by Taliban fighters. Sources suggest the attack was deliberately carried out due to Abdullah’s suspected association with the resistance movement.
The Taliban have yet to release any official statement regarding this atrocity, nor has the NRF commented on the incident. However, on Sunday, December 8, a day after Abdullah’s death, the NRF issued a statement claiming responsibility for an attack on a Taliban military unit known as the “Fourth Brigade of the Al-Fath Corps” in Qaysar district. The NRF reported that the assault resulted in one Taliban fighter killed and two others wounded. Previously, the Freedom Front of Afghanistan had also claimed responsibility for multiple attacks against Taliban forces in Faryab province.
The full identity of the victim and the fate of his family remain unclear. It is not yet known if his family members were harmed during the Taliban’s brutal operation. This incident is part of a disturbing pattern of violence perpetrated by the Taliban. In provinces such as Panjshir, Kabul, and Faryab, the Taliban have routinely arrested, tortured, and, in many cases, killed individuals accused of collaboration with the resistance. Such actions further underscore the pervasive climate of fear and repression under Taliban rule.
