RASC News Agency: On the occasion of “Universal Children’s Day”, the European Union reiterated its strong commitment to supporting Afghanistani children in the areas of education, healthcare, and protection. In a statement issued by the EU Delegation in Afghanistan, the Union emphasized the critical importance of safeguarding the country’s younger generation, describing children as “the future of Afghanistan” and reaffirming its dedication to supporting them.
The statement further underscored, “The European Union stands with the people of Afghanistan, especially its children and mothers.” This announcement highlights the EU’s continued focus on vulnerable groups amidst the deepening humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Previously, the European Union had also expressed its support for Afghanistani women, reaffirming its commitment to assisting the Afghanistani people. Despite the challenges imposed by the Taliban’s restrictive policies, particularly regarding education and women’s rights, the EU has extended aid to Afghanistani children through various programs.
“Universal Children’s Day”, observed annually on November 20th, emphasizes the significance of children’s well-being and rights globally. It is noteworthy that while the European Union has issued this statement in honor of “Universal Children’s Day”, Afghanistani children continue to face mounting challenges, including severe limitations on access to education and healthcare. These issues are further exacerbated by the country’s fragile economic and social conditions.
Meanwhile, the World Food Programme has warned that nearly half of Afghanistani children are suffering from poverty and malnutrition. The organization has stated that if the situation persists, a harsh winter awaits Afghanistani children.
