RASC News Agency: Local sources reports that the Taliban have intensified their crackdown in Panjshir province by arresting seven individuals from the Dara district. The detainees were apprehended on Monday, November 18, and subsequently transferred to a Taliban-controlled prison. According to sources, six of the detainees have been identified as Noor Zaman, Abdul Wahid, Abdul Haq, Amir Mohammad, Noor-ul-Haq, and Zikr-ul-Haq. The family of the seventh detainee has chosen not to disclose his identity.
Sources revealed that among those detained are former military personnel and Jihadi commanders, yet none have any known connections to anti-Taliban resistance movements. This wave of arrests follows the Taliban’s earlier detention of six individuals in the province, including two educators, as well as the former director of Panjshir’s prison and the head of the provincial council. Despite these repeated arrests, the Taliban have provided no explanations or charges against the detainees.
Local Taliban officials in Panjshir have remained silent regarding the reasons for these latest detentions, further fueling uncertainty and fear among the population. Since reclaiming control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have consistently targeted Panjshir residents, accusing them often without evidence of affiliations with the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF). Arbitrary detentions, torture, and imprisonment have become a recurring pattern under the pretext of maintaining security.
Residents of Panjshir have voiced increasing frustration and despair over the ongoing oppression. “We are exhausted by the Taliban’s relentless tyranny,” said one local, highlighting the pervasive climate of fear and injustice that has gripped the region.
