RASC News Agency: Local sources in Nangarhar province report a heartbreaking incident in the Kama district, where a young man ended his life, unable to withstand the crushing weight of economic hardships and poverty. The victim, identified as Mohammad Khan, was a resident of Tiliano village. According to reports, his decision to take his own life stemmed from insurmountable financial difficulties.

The tragic event occurred early this morning Saturday, November 16, when Mohammad Khan used a “Carbine” firearm to end his life. One source attributed the suicide to prolonged unemployment and financial struggles, describing it as an act of despair in the face of unrelenting hardship. Another source corroborated the incident, revealing that Mohammad Khan had been unable to afford his wedding expenses for three years. The source further noted that his prolonged financial distress had led to a deterioration in his mental health, leaving him feeling powerless and disenchanted with life, which culminated in his suicide.

While local Taliban officials in Nangarhar have remained silent on the matter, a source close to the Taliban acknowledged the incident, confirming that a young man had recently taken his own life in the Kama district. Incidents of suicide are increasingly reported from provinces across Afghanistan, with the primary causes being despair, mental health crises, poverty, and unemployment.

Since the Taliban’s return to power, suicide rates in Afghanistan have risen alarmingly. Many individuals, grappling with severe poverty and widespread joblessness, have found themselves driven to the brink, with outcomes.
