RASC News Agency: Sources in Nangarhar have reported that the Taliban publicly flogged one woman and ten men in the province. In a statement released on Thursday, the Taliban’s Supreme Court announced that these individuals were punished with flogging on charges of “adultery, sodomy, and illicit relationships.” The court specified that each of the accused received between 30 to 39 lashes.

The statement noted that the sentences were issued by the city court, the primary court in Sar-Khroad district, and the primary court of Ghani Khel, Nangarhar. Senior Taliban officials from various judicial branches, along with local residents, reportedly attended the public flogging.

Since early October, the Taliban have carried out public floggings for 85 individuals across Afghanistan. Recently, seven people were flogged in Khost on charges of illicit relationships, and another ten were punished for alleged sodomy and theft, each receiving between 25 and 39 lashes, with sixteen others given prison sentences. In Parwan, two people faced both flogging and prison for alleged adultery, while in Kabul, four individuals including one woman were flogged for alleged illicit relationships and fleeing home.

Additionally, the Taliban executed an individual in Paktia yesterday, allegedly for killing a Taliban member, with top officials from the Haqqani network in attendance. In recent months, the Taliban have escalated public floggings and executions, underscoring their ongoing commitment to enforcing these punishments under their strict interpretation of Islamic law.
