RASC News Agency: Members of the “Afghanistani People’s Liberation Network” have called on U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to end the policy of engagement with the Taliban. In a statement released today Sunday, November 11, the women urged Trump not to support policies that promote or recognize the Taliban as legitimate. The women emphasized that the engagement policy with the Taliban, which began during Trump’s first term in office, has had devastating effects on the lives of the Afghanistani people. They argue that this policy has only served to solidify an undemocratic, repressive regime in Afghanistan.

In their statement to Trump, they wrote: “We urge you to prioritize supporting international efforts and human rights organizations in finding peaceful and sustainable solutions that guarantee the fundamental rights and freedoms of the Afghanistani people, rather than strengthening the Taliban.” Furthermore, the women called on the president-elect to support Afghanistani women, combat political and social repression, and ensure proper oversight of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

This comes after Donald Trump was elected as the 47th President of the United States in the recent presidential election, where he defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. It is worth noting that Trump, who is set to return to the White House for a second term, has not yet clarified his policy on Afghanistan. His future strategy regarding the country was not outlined during his election campaign. During his first term, peace negotiations between the U.S. and the Taliban took place, culminating in the signing of the Doha Agreement, which led to the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan.
