RASC News Agency: A female protester in Takhar has reported that the Taliban have imprisoned her brother due to her activism in the province. On Sunday, November 3, Parisa Mobariz informed the media that her brother has been held for approximately fifty days in the custody of Taliban intelligence in Takhar, with no information regarding his fate. Currently residing abroad, Parisa claims to lead the Takhar Women’s Movement and the Intelligent Academy. Her relatives in Takhar have also confirmed her brother’s arrest.
In recent months, the Taliban have imposed severe restrictions on women and girls, actively suppressing protests against these limitations. On the same day, reports emerged that a Taliban commander in Takhar brutally assaulted a woman, who subsequently succumbed to her injuries. According to sources, the Taliban police commander in the Darqad district, in collusion with a “land grabber and bully,” attempted to destroy crops belonging to women. However, the women resisted this action. When they prevented the destruction of their fields, Taliban officials, including the deputy district chief and the police commander of Darqad, arrived at the scene in the evening to confront the women.
Sources indicated that Abdul Khaliq, the Taliban police commander in Darqad, assaulted the women when they refused to abandon their lands. Among those affected, Bibi Gul sustained the most severe injuries and was transported to a hospital. Reports also allege that the Taliban detained relatives of the deceased woman. Since regaining control of the country, the Taliban have arrested protesting women, often holding them in their prisons under torture for months and frequently detaining their relatives as well.
Furthermore, the United Nations has reported that female protesters are subjected to sexual violence in Taliban prisons.
