RASC News Agency: According to local sources in Balkh province, a disturbing incident of armed robbery recently took place in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, the provincial center. The incident, which occurred on the night of Tuesday, October 10, involved a group of eight armed individuals forcefully entering a residence in the fourth district of Mazar-e-Sharif. The robbers brazenly seized money, gold, and other valuables from the house before fleeing the area.

Disturbingly, the perpetrators resorted to violence and intimidation in their desperate pursuit of wealth. They employed physical restraints, using ropes to confine the terrified family members. The male head of the household was subjected to severe beatings and torture in a bid to extract information about the whereabouts of valuable assets, including money and gold.
Reports suggest that the thieves made off with an estimated 100,000 Afghanistani rupees, along with mobile phones, household items, and gold belonging to the female occupants of the residence.

Following the incident, Taliban officials have announced the arrest of three individuals suspected of involvement in the robbery. However, this incident raises questions about the group’s commitment to providing security for the lives and property of the people. It is particularly concerning as it occurred just weeks after two other houses in the same area were targeted by armed robbers.

Since the Taliban’s takeover of the country, occurrences of armed robbery have been on the rise, with citizens reporting similar criminal cases from various regions throughout Afghanistan. This rise in criminal activity further highlights the challenges faced by the Taliban in ensuring the safety and security of the Afghan population. The incidence of armed robbery continues to be a cause for concern, with citizens growing increasingly worried about their safety and the protection of their property.
