RASC News Agency: Despite claims by the Taliban that they have prevented opium cultivation in Afghanistan, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization recently stated that narcotics are being smuggled into member countries of this organization and other countries from Afghanistan.
Valery Semerikov, on Tuesday, October 24th, on the sidelines of the 25th meeting of the Coordination Council for the Fight against Drug Trafficking of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Minsk, told reporters that the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan needs to be strengthened.
Semerikov further emphasized that all necessary efforts are being made to prevent the entry of drugs into these countries.
It is worth mentioning that representatives from the Ministries of Interior of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Belarus were present at this meeting.
During the meeting, Mr. Semerikov said that member countries of this organization have completed the development of the program to strengthen the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border in order to combat the flow of narcotics.
According to reports from Russian media, Valery Semerikov added, “We are doing everything possible for this program to be approved by the leaders of the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in the near future so that we can implement it immediately.”
Based on the available reports, President Emom ali Rahmon of Tajikistan had announced the discovery and seizure of over 10 tons of narcotics at the border with Afghanistan in the past two years during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
This is despite the fact that the Taliban always claim to have succeeded in preventing opium cultivation in the country, yet reports of the buying and selling of heroin throughout the country are received every day.
It should be noted that the Taliban are accused themselves in a significant number of cases involving the purchase and sale of heroin in Afghanistan, but this group has always denied these allegations.
