RASC News Agency: An Indian newspaper has alleged that Pakistan is actively working to sabotage Afghanistan’s diplomatic relations with Iran and India by portraying the country as a breeding ground for terrorists. According to “The Sunday Guardian”, which cites sources within Taliban-controlled Kabul, Pakistan’s military and intelligence agency (ISI) are leading a disinformation campaign designed to label Afghanistan as a refuge for terrorist organizations. The campaign, the report states, is specifically aimed at weakening Afghanistan’s ties with Iran and India.
This claim comes amidst warnings from international human rights groups and previous reports that Afghanistan has increasingly become a sanctuary for numerous terrorist organizations. Extremist groups such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), al-Qaeda, ISIS, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and the Uzbek Taliban continue to operate within the country’s borders. Pakistan’s military has also previously alleged that TTP has established bases in Afghanistan, from which it orchestrates attacks on both the Pakistani army and civilians. Similarly, Tajikistan has expressed concern over the presence and activities of ISIS and other terrorist groups within Afghanistan.
As the Indian newspaper’s allegations surface, experts and analysts warn that this disinformation campaign could escalate beyond mere rhetoric, posing real risks to regional stability. By fostering anti-Afghanistan narratives, ISI may be facilitating the conditions for terrorist groups to thrive within Afghanistan. The report further claims that certain research institutions and media outlets are producing content that appears authentic but is, in reality, propaganda aimed at furthering Pakistan’s military objectives while damaging Afghanistan’s diplomatic relationships with its neighbors.
