RASC News Agency: The Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs has declared that Afghanistan cannot be left in isolation, particularly given the looming threats of terrorism and extremism. Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Saturday, Faisal bin Farhan reaffirmed Riyadh’s commitment to the security, stability, and territorial integrity of Afghanistan. He warned that terrorism originating from Afghanistan poses a threat to global security, and thus the world cannot afford to overlook the country’s challenges.
Bin Farhan underscored the urgency of providing humanitarian aid and addressing Afghanistan’s dire situation. He cautioned that neglecting the country could foster an environment ripe for the growth of terrorist organizations. Moreover, he emphasized that economic development and stability can only be achieved in a politically and socially stable environment. In response, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has dismissed international concerns regarding terrorism, asserting that it will not allow Afghanistan soil to be used for operations against other countries.
The Islamic Emirate has reiterated that dialogue and engagement are the sole solutions to Afghanistan’s challenges, expressing its desire for amicable relations with all nations. However, the Taliban have consistently refused to engage in discussions with their political opposition, prompting accusations from the international community of forming a one-party government. This has left the Afghanistani population increasingly disillusioned with the current regime.
Since the Taliban’s return to power, terrorist activity has escalated within Afghanistan. Groups such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), al-Qaeda, and ISIS have expanded their operations. Recently, ISIS claimed responsibility for the killing of 14 individuals in Daikundi province.
