RASC News Agency: Brigadier General Jalaluddin Bajgah, a prominent commander of the Jihad and Resistance movement in Baghlan province, has alleged that “during Hanif Atmar’s tenure as Minister of Interior, he dispatched an emissary, asking me to assassinate several Jihadi commanders in Baghlan province in exchange for money. However, I refused.” General Bajgah claims that after rejecting Atmar’s proposal, he obtained intelligence indicating that Atmar had handed over the assassination list to another individual in Baghlan, assigning them to carry out the killings. He further revealed that his own name was among the targets on this list.
In a video statement, General Bajgah emphasized that Hanif Atmar, in coordination with former President Hamid Karzai and the National Security Council, played a significant role in orchestrating a series of targeted assassinations against Northern Mujahideen, particularly leaders of the Islamic Jamiat party. According to Bajgah, Atmar had drawn up a list of numerous Northern Mujahideen leaders, most of whom were ethnic Tajiks, with the intent of eliminating them. This list was allegedly handed over to select commanders of the former government, who were loyal to Atmar, with orders to execute the assassinations.
Bajgah further claimed that Atmar offered large sums of money in exchange for the assassination of each Jihadi commander. Nevertheless, Bajgah refused to participate in these actions. Such allegations are not unprecedented. Several other individuals have previously confessed that Pashtun leaders from the former government had approached them, offering money and high-ranking positions in exchange for assassinating Northern Mujahideen commanders.
Commander Hasib Panjshiri, known as Hasib Qowaye Markaz, previously revealed in a video that the intelligence service of the former government had solicited him to assassinate key Mujahideen commanders, including Commander Bahlul Bahij and Commander Gul Haidar Panjshiri. However, he too refused to comply. Former President Karzai has also been accused in the past of being involved in the targeted killings of Mujahideen commanders.
