Former Soldier Executed by Taliban in Badghis

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Badghis province report the execution of a former soldier by Taliban forces. According to these sources, a former police officer from the previous Afghan government was shot dead by Taliban intelligence on the evening of Saturday, September 28, in the “Chakariha” area of Qala-e-Naw, the provincial capital.

The victim, identified as Nasir Ahmad, was arrested by the Taliban in the afternoon and later executed by firing squad. Taliban intelligence claimed that Ahmad had a grenade in his possession and was allegedly planning an attack on their fighters. As of now, local Taliban officials in Badghis have not released an official statement regarding the incident.

Despite the general amnesty announced by Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group has persistently targeted former military personnel since assuming control of Afghanistan. Over the past three years, numerous reports from national and international organizations indicate that the Taliban have systematically arrested, tortured, and killed thousands of former soldiers, particularly in regions with Tajik populations.

Currently, thousands of Tajik youth from Panjshir and Andarab are reportedly imprisoned in Taliban-controlled detention centers. The Taliban, however, continue to deny these allegations, claiming they have not imprisoned or executed former security forces. Nevertheless, fear of persecution has driven thousands of Afghanistani citizens to flee the country each day.
